👽 Free Crochet Alien Amigurumi Pattern + Video Tutorial

(Bag Charm Edition – Beginner Friendly!)

Say hello to your new out-of-this-world little friend! This free alien crochet pattern is perfect for turning yarn scraps into an adorable toy, keychain, or bag charm. It’s a fast and fun project whether you're a seasoned amigurumi lover or just starting out!

🧵 What You’ll Need:

  • 2mm, 2.5mm, or 3mm crochet hook

  • Acrylic DK yarn (skin colour + T-shirt colour)

  • Black yarn for eyes

  • Fiberfill stuffing

  • Yarn needle & scissors

  • Stitch marker (optional)

  • Keyring or lobster clasp (if turning into a charm)

📌 Crochet Terms (US Terminology)

  • ST – Stitch

  • SLST – Slip Stitch

  • SC – Single Crochet

  • HDC – Half Double Crochet

  • INC – Increase (2 SC in 1 stitch)

  • DEC – Decrease (SC 2 together)

  • MR – Magic Ring

🧶 The Pattern

🦵 Legs (Make 2)

Start with your skin colour yarn.

Leg 1
R1: 5 SC in MR, SLST to first SC (5 sts)
R2: INC in each stitch (10 sts), SLST to join
R3–5: 1 SC in each stitch (10 sts), SLST to join each round
Fasten off and weave in the end.

Leg 2
Repeat R1–R5 as above, but do not fasten off.
Instead, chain 1 and SLST to the first leg to join.

🧍 Body

R11:
SC around first leg (10), SC in ch1 space, SC around second leg (10), SC in ch1 space again. SLST to first SC (22 sts total). Fasten off.

R12: (Optional: change to T-shirt colour)
5 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.
R13: 4 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.
Start stuffing the legs and continue as you work up.

R14: 1 SC in each stitch. SLST to join.
R15: 3 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.
R16: 2 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.

R17: (Change back to skin colour)
1 SC, INC repeat around. SLST to join.
R18: 2 SC, INC repeat around. SLST to join.
R19: 3 SC, INC repeat around. SLST to join.
R20: 4 SC, INC repeat around. SLST to join.
R21: 1 SC in each stitch. SLST to join.
R22: 5 SC, INC repeat around. SLST to join.
R23: 1 SC in each stitch. SLST to join.
R24: 4 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.
R25: 2 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.
R26: 2 SC, DEC repeat around. SLST to join.
R27: Chain 1, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing the head closed.

💪 Arms (Make 2)

Begin with skin colour yarn.

R1: 5 SC in MR. SLST to first SC.
R2: 1 SC in each stitch (5). SLST to join.
R3–R5: (Change to T-shirt colour)
1 SC in each stitch. SLST to join each round.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing arms to body.

👁 Eyes (Make 2)

Use black yarn.

  1. Begin with a slip knot and chain 4

  2. Skip the first chain, then:
     SC in next, HDC in next, 2 SC in last chain

  3. Turn and work on the underside:
     HDC in next, SC in next, SLST into last stitch

  4. Chain 1, SLST again, then fasten off with long tail for sewing
