🧶 My Go-To Peace Sign Granny Square: Free Crochet Pattern + Video Tutorial

If you've been following my work for a while, you've probably noticed one motif that pops up everywhere: the peace sign granny square. 💜✌️

It's one of my all-time favourite patterns — fun, funky, and full of good vibes. Whether I'm making cosy cardigans, colourful crop tops, or funky little bags, this square always finds a way in.

So today, I'm sharing the free crochet pattern that started it all — along with the video tutorial that I created.

✨ Why I Love This Pattern

This granny square is more than just cute — it’s versatile. Here are just a few ways I’ve used it:

  • 🌈 Cardigans: Mix and match colourways for a retro look.

  • 👜 Bags: Peace signs + bright yarn = instant festival vibes.

  • 👚 Tops: Light, breathable, and totally eye-catching.

Big love to the creator for putting this out into the world!

👉 Here you can find a video tutorial I made. When I first started crocheting I could not read patterns and just learned off watching videos. So for anyone who is similar to me, I hope this comes in handy!

💡 Tips from My Hook

  • Yarn choice matters: I love using cotton or soft acrylic blends to give the squares shape without stiffness.

  • ColoUr combos: Don't be afraid to go bold. This pattern loves a good rainbow moment.

  • Blocking helps: It gives the peace sign structure and makes assembly easier.

  • Experiment with different size hooks: I created a small peace sign motif using a size 2mm hook. I used this for a cowboy hat, see the pic below!
